O Patrimônio palentológico de Calendária - RS Reflexões sobre educação patrimonial no ensino de Geografia

Abstract

O município de Candelária possui um patrimônio paleontológico extremamente representativo da fauna triássic a do Brasil e que, para além da ciência, é tido como elemento de identificação de parte da população. O objetivo deste trabalho é investigar de que forma a Paleontologia é trabalhada no ensino de Geografia em Candelária e refletir sobre a potencialidade da Educação Patrimonial na valorização do patrimônio paleontológico. Foi utilizada a pesquisa bibliográfica e documental para explorar os conceitos de patrimônio, patrimônio geológico, patrimônio paleontológico, geodiversidade, geoconservação e Educação Patr imonial . Para compreender o cenário atual da presença da Paleontologia na educação de Candelária e especialmente no ensino de Geografia, foram realizadas entrevistas estruturadas com o curador do Museu Municipal Aristides Carlos Rodrigues, representante s d a Secretaria Municipal de Educação e professoras de Geografia do município. Constatou - se que o Museu Municipal promove diversas ações de Educação Patrimonial junto às escolas e à população, através de exposições, palestras e eventos, o que vem resultando em um maior envolvimento da comunidade com a Paleontologia. Também se constatou que a Paleontologia está presente no ensino de Geografia de Candelária e que as professoras têm noção da importância do patrimônio paleontológico do município. Percebe - se também que existe uma certa variedade de conteúdos da Geografia que são trabalhados a partir da Paleontologia e que os exemplos locais são bastante utilizados . A Secretaria Municipal de Educação atua em duas frentes principais para fortalecer a Paleontologia com o temática curricular: por meios legais, com a construção do Documento Orientador Municipal , e através das ações educativas em parceria com o Museu Municipal . Foi concluído que a atuação do Museu Municipal na promoção da Paleontologia tem contribuído imens amente para a valorização do patrimônio paleont ológico de Candelária, e que iss o aparece também na educação, de modo que esta ciência ganha espaço nas aulas. Porém a Educação Patrimonial como metodologia ainda não encontra o espaço que poderia no ensino de Geografia do município, considerando seu potencial. Conclui - se também que projetos como o Paleoeduca são ferramentas excelentes para o fortalecimento da Paleontologia como temática central da educação de Candelária.

Candelária municipality possesses a paleontological heritage that is extremely representative of the triassic fauna of Brazil . Beyond science, it is seen as an element of i dentification for part of the population. The goal of this work is to investigate how Paleontology is brought to the teaching of Geography, and to reflect on the heritage education's potential in the appreciation of the paleontological heritage. The concep ts of heritage, geological heritage, paleontological heritage, geodiversity, geoconservation and heritage education were explored using bibliographical and documentary research. In order to understand the current scenario of the presence of Paleontology in Candelária’s education, specially in the teaching of Geography, structured interviews were conducted with the curator of the Museu Municipa l Aristides Carlos Rodrigues, representative s of the Secretaria Municipal de Educação de Candelária, and Geography t eachers of Candelária municipality. It was found that the Museu Municipal promotes a diversity of heritage education actions with schools and the population, through exhibitions, lectures and events, which have been resulting in greater community involveme nt with Paleontology. It was also found that Paleontology is present in the teaching of Geography in Candelária and teachers are aware of the importance of the municipality’s paleontological heritage. It is also noticed that there is a certain variety in t he contents of Geography approached from Paleontology and the local examples are frequently used . The Secretaria Municipal de Educação works in two different ways to strengthen Paleontology as a curricular theme: through legal means, with the construction o f the Documento Orientador Municipal and through educational actions in partnership with the Museu Municipal . It was concluded that the Museu Municipal’s role in promoting Paleontology has been contributing immensely to the appreciation of Candelária’s pal eontological heritage, which is also seen in education. This results in this science gaining space in class. However, heritage education as a methodology is yet to find its space in the municipality’s teaching of Geography, considering its potential. It wa s also concluded that projects as Paleoeduca are excellent tools for strengthening Paleontology as a central the me in Candelária’s education.
