Ela é inteligente, gentil e tão bonita : a representatividade feminina da personagem Jasmine nos filmes Aladdin

Abstract

O presente trabalho tem como temática a representação do gênero feminino nas narrativas cinematográficas. O objeto empírico deste estudo é a personagem Jasmine do filme Aladdin. São acionados os autores, Costa (2006) para a história do cinema, Brait (1990) para a construção da personagem, Freire Filho (2005) e Soares (2007) para o conceito de representação midiática, Woodward (2000), Hall (2006), Grossi (2000) e Beauvoir (1967) são as referências para o debate sobre identidade e a identidade de gênero feminino, Reis (2017) e Friedrich (2018) para a representação da mulher nos filmes. A pergunta-problema é como os filmes Aladdin (1992) e Aladdin (2019), dos estúdios Walt Disney, representam o gênero feminino por meio da personagem Jasmine? O objetivo geral é compreender as transformações da representação do gênero feminino nos filmes Aladdin (1992) e Aladdin (2019) dos estúdios Walt Disney. São objetivos específicos: (a) mapear as características de gênero feminino associadas pela personagem Jasmine nos filmes Aladdin (1992) e Aladdin (2019); (b) comparar as características de representação de gênero feminino da personagem Jasmine nos filmes Aladdin (1992) e Aladdin (2019); e (c) identificar possíveis contribuições da representação de gênero feminino da personagem Jasmine para o debate da mulher contemporânea. Para tanto, foi realizada uma análise fílmica de Vanoye e Goliot-Lété (2006) a partir de cenas pré-selecionadas que permitem a observação das características presentes na personagem. Constatou-se que o gênero feminino é representado pela Jasmine em diferentes contextos de época que acompanharam a transformação da mulher na sociedade.

The present work has as its theme the feminine representation in the cinematic narratives. The empirical object of this study is the character Jasmine from the movie Aladdin. The study used the authors, Costa (2006) for the history of cinema, Brait (1990) for character building, Freire Filho (2005) and Soares (2007) for the concept of media representation, Woodward (2000), Hall (2006), Grossi (2000) and Beauvoir (1967) for the debate about female gender identity and Reis (2017) and Friedrich (2018) for the representation of women in movies. The question that guides this research is: How Walt Disney Studios' Aladdin (1992) and Aladdin (2019) films represent the female genre by the character Jasmine? The general objective is to understand the transformations of female representation in the Aladdin (1992) and Aladdin (2019) movies of Walt Disney Studios. Specific objectives are: (a) map the female gender characteristics associated with the character Jasmine in the films Aladdin (1992) and Aladdin (2019); (b) compare the female gender representation characteristics of the character Jasmine in the films Aladdin (1992) and Aladdin (2019); and (c) identify possible contributions of the female gender representation from Jasmine character to the contemporary women's debate. For this, a film analysis of Vanoye and Goliot-Lété (2006) was performed from pre-selected scenes that record the observation of the characteristics present in the character. It is noted that the female gender is represented by Jasmine in different time contexts that accompany the transformation of women in society. The animation represents a woman who dreams of starting a family and the live action, a woman who yearns for a professional career.
