Abstract in Portuguese (Brasil)

This study is about overloaded female figures, which comprehends figurative bodies beyond their aesthetic-formal dimension. The research includes a constellation of images of female bodies with elements resting on their heads, ranging from anthropomorphic ornaments found in examples of classical and neoclassical architecture, works of art, to graphic arts and contemporary literary productions. It seeks an episteme of the concept of “caryatid body” from a visual assembly plan aligned with the mode of Aby Warburg's Atlas Mnemosyne and his transdisciplinary vision. With the help of Georges Didi-Huberman's studies on the significant experiences of emotion brought about by works of art and the warburguian concepts of nachleben and pathosformel, it is proposed to consider the poetic and political-pedagogical dimensions to historicize images and highlight their interimagetic arguments for the female figures that carry the survival of their expressive manifestation: the submissive, secondary, overworked, educated and disciplined female body to a servile way of life. Along with the perspectives of the Philosophy of Difference, which thinks the image as presence, to move senses and teach other ways of being, existing and living, this study proposes other ways of being in front of the investigated images and revealing transversal knowledge constituted at the intersections between Education, Philosophy, the Visual Arts and the History of Art. ...
