Avaliação da capacidade diagnóstica de alterações radiográficas obtidas por alunos da graduação

Abstract

O domínio da interpretação de imagens radiográficas contribui de forma significativa para o diagnóstico correto das alterações do complexo dento-alveolar, de modo que é importante o desenvolvimento desta competência para formação do cirurgião-dentista. Assim, o objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a capacidade diagnóstica de alterações radiográficas obtidas por alunos da graduação, ao final da disciplina de Diagnóstico por Imagem da Faculade de Odontologia. Após as aulas teóricas e práticas, os alunos foram convidados a avaliar 20 radiografias e responder um questionário contendo 76 questões sobre as diferentes alterações radiográficas, 71 alunos aceitaram. Nas imagens estavam contempladas alterações radiográficas corono-radiculares, como: lesões de cárie, cálculos dentários, restaurações, materias obturadores, reabsorções ósseas e outros, em radiografias interproximais e periapicais. Após a correção dos questionários, uma análise descritiva foi realizada, indicando que os alunos obtiveram uma média de acertos de 76,9% do total de alterações radiográficas apresentadas. Analisando as variáveis individualmente, destacam-se lesão de cárie que obteve uma média de 85,5% de acertos e perdas ósseas que obteve média de 88,7%. Já cálculo dentário apresentou uma menor média de acertos, de 67,6%. Este estudo conclui que, em geral, os alunos obtiveram um desempenho significativo no diagnóstico das alterações radiográficas atingindo o objetivo do atual modelo de aprendizagem desenvolvido na disciplina de Diagnóstico por Imagem.

The domain of interpretation of radiographic images contributes significantly to the correct diagnosis in the dentoalveolar complex changes, so it is important to develop this competency for training the dentist. The objective of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic capacity of radiographic alterations obtained by undergraduate students, at the end of the diagnostic imaging discipline of the dental college. After the theoretical and practical classes, the students were invited to evaluate 20 radiographs and answer a questionnaire containing 76 questions about different radiographic changes, 71 students accepted. Coronal-radicular radiographic changes were observed in the images, such as: caries lesions, dental calculus, restorations, filling materials, bone resorption and others, in interproximal and periapical radiographs. After correction of the questionnaires, a descriptive analysis was performed, indicating that the students obtained a mean of 76.9% of the total radiographic alterations presented. Analyzing the variables individually, stand out caries lesion that obtained an average of 85.5% of hitsand bone loss, which averaged 88.7%. Dental calculus presented a lower average of hits, of 67.6%. This study concludes that, in general, the students obtained a significant performance in the diagnosis of the radiographic changes reaching the objective of the current learning model, developed by the Diagnostic Imaging discipline.
