O uso de mídias táticas e hacktivismo pelo movimento contemporâneo alt-right

Abstract

Neste trabalho investigamos a mídia tática e sua apropriação pelo movimento online de extrema-direita chamado alt-right. O estudo das origens e práticas da mídia tática e do hacktivismo, o deslocamento da mídia tática para o ambiente virtual, foram necessários para que pudéssemos traçar uma linha comparativa com o discurso e ações da alt-right. Começamos com uma discussão teórica sobre as mídias táticas, seu surgimento e definição, além de introduzir os grupos e teorias que informam seus praticantes e os efeitos que buscam produzir com a mídia tática. Depois destacamos a relação entre as contraculturas e a cibercultura para tratar do hacktivismo, e, mais especificamente, do grupo hacktivista Anonymous, cuja origem e formas de atuar se refletem na alt-right. Por fim, tratamos mais detidamente do uso tático das mídias, a partir do hacktivismo, pela alt-right, tratando de seu surgimento e das táticas utilizadas por esses ativistas sob a perspectiva de uma continuidade, mas também de uma ruptura com os coletivos de mídias táticas.

In this work, we investigate tactical media and its appropriation by the extreme right-wing online movement called alt-right. The study of the origins and practices of tactical media and hacktivism, tactical media‟s displacement to the virtual environment, were necessary so that we could draw a comparative line with the speech and actions of alt-right. We begin with a theoretical discussion about tactical media, their emergence and definition, and introduce the groups and theories that inform their practitioners and the effects they seek to produce with tactical media. Then we highlight the relationship between countercultures and cyberculture to deal with hacktivism, and more specifically, the hacktivist group Anonymous, whose origins and ways of acting are reflected in the alt-right. Finally, we deal more closely with the tactical use of media, through hacktivism, of the alt-right, dealing with their emergence and the tactics used by these activists from the perspective of a continuity, but also a rupture with tactical media collectives.
