Bibliotecas especiais : a biblioteca hospitalar como um repositório de saúde e bem-estar ao alcance do paciente

Abstract

A pesquisa apresenta algumas reflexões sobre a importância da existência de uma biblioteca especial – no âmbito hospitalar - voltada às necessidades de pacientes internados e seus acompanhantes. Mostra que o bibliotecário pode e deve atuar em parceria com profissionais da área de Ciências da Saúde, aceitando o desafio de aplicar o seu potencial profissional no contexto institucional. Efetuou-se uma pesquisa bibliográfica a fim de se estabelecer a inter-relação entre os conceitos de biblioteca, biblioteca especial, biblioteca hospitalar e biblioteca voltada para pacientes. Na sua realização foram observadas as seguintes etapas: a) identificação do tema – Biblioteca Hospitalar voltada aos Pacientes, com limitação temporal, de 1945 até nossos dias e do idioma das fontes – português, espanhol, inglês e italiano; b) seleção das fontes informacionais e c) localização das mesmas. A importância terapêutica da leitura e a utilização da biblioterapia na profilaxia, educação, reabilitação e na terapia propriamente dita em indivíduos com doenças físicas ou mentais, hospitalizados ou não, foram identificadas através da realização de entrevistas. A revisão de literatura e as entrevistas realizadas revelam que há poucos estudos na área, o que pode estar influenciando a difusão de sua prática no contexto nacional.

This work shows some reflections about the importance of the existence of a special library, in the hospital ambit, directed to the needs of interned patients and its companions. It presents the library of hospital as provider of health and welfare, to the reach of that they are under medical cares. It shows that the librarian can and must act in association with the professionals of the Health Science, accepting the challenge to apply his professional potencial in the institutional context. It realized a bibliographic research to establish an inter-relation among the concepts of Library, Special Library, Hospital Library e Patients Library. In it execution some stages had been followed: a) subject identification – Hospital Library directed to patients – with temporal limitation from 1945 to nowadays and languages limitation – Portuguese, Spanish, English and Italian; b) selection of the informational sources and c) location of them. The therapeutical importance of reading and the bibliotherapy use in the prophylaxis, education, rehabilitation and in the properly therapy in individuals with physical or mental diseases, in the hospital or not, had been identified with the realization of interviews. The literature review and the interviews show that few studies about it had been made, which may be influencing it’s practical diffusion in the national context.
