Automatically guided vehicles (AGVs) are used in the automation of processes in intralogistics, where they can be used in production lines and distribution centers. The lateral control in such systems is indispensable since it allows the vehicle to automatically navigate in relation to a given reference, which in the case in question is carried out by a colored tape allocated to the ground. The AGVs are characterized by nonlinearity and complexity of their dynamics, making mathematical modeling challenging, given the occurrence of load and speed variations in a typical vehicle operation. In view of these aspects, the objective of this work is to implement lateral controllers through the Fuzzy and PID methodologies, based on experimental data and the heuristic knowledge of the process. In this way, the topology Fuzzy PD was implemented, which uses rules and membership functions that result in a non-linear static mapping between inputs and output. Differently, for the PD controller, the experimental identification of the plant was carried out with the aid of the software MATLAB®, enabling the design by Root Locus. The controllers were implemented in a digital environment embedded in the AGV, allowing the acquisition of data through serial communication. Therefore, tests were carried out under load and speed variation, as well as step and oscillating disturbance tests. In general, through the comparison of the results it was possible to conclude that the Fuzzy PD controller was more suitable in relation to the PD controller, mainly in terms of control signal amplitude and robustness to disturbances related to a reference tape. ...
