Abstract in Portuguese
Abstract
This work aims to study the use of natural gas in a combined heat and power (CHP) system for residential consumers subject to cost-reflective tariffs (called “white tariff” in Brazil) based on the real energy consumption data of the residents between May 2017 and April 2018. For this purpose, an economic analysis is performed, considering distributed generation acting only at peak hours and at peak and intermediate hours, for the different consumption profiles. The economic analysis is made usi ...
The economic analysis is made using the parameters of NPV (net present value), payback and internal rate of return (IRR). The results show that economic viability is a function not only of consumption habits, but also of the energy consumed. The use of the CHP system during the two periods of the day, instead of only at peak hours, presents better results, from the economic point of view. For the residential consumers that have a percentage higher than 50% of consumption at peak and intermediate times, included in groups 1, 3, 4 and 5 of this study, and whose monthly electricity consumption exceeds 300 kWh, the CHP system becomes economically attractive. ...
