O trágico e o cômico nos mangás Shonen e Seinen

Abstract

O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar a estrutura dos mangás japoneses e pensar sua semelhança com a estrutura das tragédias e comédias do teatro grego clássico. Com este propósito, portanto, são estudados os mangás Shingeki no Kyojin, Tokyo Ghoul e Naruto de forma a verificar o modo como seus enredos representam imitações de ações referentes à vida, à felicidade e à desventura. Tais ações são executadas por personagens principais que transitam da representação de um humano comum, tipicamente retratado no teatro cômico, a heróis predestinados, seres elevados, que presentes nas tragédias gregas. Analisamos como estes heróis desafiam as autoridades e os seus destinos; o modo como sofrem e por meio deste sentimento despertam a compaixão dos leitores; as peripécias por eles enfrentadas até o clímax, o modo como, desta maneira, purgam os sentimentos pela catarse e, enfim, chegam ao desfecho trágico, que é o que provoca a reflexão sobre as semelhanças entre eles e as personagens principais das tragédias gregas. Veremos, ainda, a forma como a estrutura do enredo das tragédias gregas é semelhante à construção dos enredos dos mangás. Neste trabalho, contudo, não buscamos encontrar se há alguma relação de intercurso cultural que tenha provocado tais semelhanças entre as estruturas dos mangás japoneses com o teatro clássico, limitando-nos a pensar como tais estruturas assemelham-se e impactam os seus espectadores.

The goal of this work was to analyze the structure of Japanese Manga and its similarities with the structure of Greek classic theater tragedies and comedies. Therefore, we analyzed the mangas Shingeki no Kyojin, Tokyo Ghoul, and Naruto, in order to verify how their stories represent mimicries of actions regarding life, happiness and misfortune. Such actions were executed by main characters, which went from mundane humans, commonly portraited in the comic theater, to predestined heroes, higher beings, portraited by the Greek tragedies. We analyzed how these heroes defy their authorities and their destiny, the way they suffer and, through this suffering, awake compassion from the readers; the mishaps faced by them until the climax, the way they purg their feelings through catharsis and, finally, provoked the reflection about the similarities between them and the main characters in the Greek tragedies. Also, we saw the way in which the plot structure of Greek tragedies was similar to the construction of manga plots. In this work, however, we didn’t try to find if there’s any relation of cultural exchange that may have caused these similar structures between Japanese Manga and Greek Theater but stuck to the idea of how such structures are similar how these impact the reader.
