Política e resistência, substantivos femininos: um olhar sobre o jornal feminista Correio da Mulher

Abstract

O presente trabalho se propõe a pesquisar o Correio da Mulher, único jornal alternativo feminista do Rio Grande do Sul, que circulou nas bancas em dezembro de 1980 e março de 1981. Não há trabalhos anteriores sobre o periódico. O corpus é constituído pela totalidade de textos (74) publicados no jornal, entre a edição 1 (29 textos) e 2 (45 textos). O estudo se baseia nos conceitos de imprensa alternativa (Kucinski) e cultura da mídia (Santaella e Kellner), além de se amparar nos estudos de jornalismo. Usando os entendimentos destes e de outros teóricos, buscamos situar relações entre o período histórico vivido pelo impresso - em plena época de reabertura política -, feminismo e como o jornal se posicionava diante da relação da mulher na sociedade a partir de seus textos, especificamente de suas reportagens, e o papel social do jornalismo em uma era de opressão às minorias e efervescência política. A abordagem metodológica cruzou a Análise de Conteúdo, de Bardin, e a história oral de Meihy. Os 74 textos foram analisados e categorizados conforme seus respectivos eixos. Em consonância, foram combinados os relatos de três jornalistas que atuaram no Correio da Mulher: Bete Portugal, Janete Jobim e Wlacyra Lisboa, entrevistadas individualmente. Identificamos a forte presença de temáticas como política e direitos das mulheres na forma, principalmente, de reportagens jornalísticas. A vida curta do jornal, de apenas duas edições, resulta de conflitos entre a direção e equipe da publicação, mas não constitui exceção entre os alternativos da época, marcados, em sua maioria, pela efemeridade.

The present work has the purpose to research the Correio da Mulher, the only feminist alternative journal from Rio Grande do Sul, which circulated in the newsstand in December 1980 and March 1981. There are no previous works about the journal. The research corpus is constituted by the total of 74 texts published in the newspaper, between the first edition (29 texts) and the second (45 texts). The study is based on the concepts of alternative press (Kucinski), and media culture (Kellner and Santaella), as well as it holds on journalism theories. Using the knowledge of these and others theoreticians, we seek situating relations between the historical period lived by the journal - during the time of political reopening - feminism and how the journal used to be stationed before the situation of women in the society from its texts, specifically its stories, and the social role of journalism during an era of oppression and political awakening. The methodology we used was Bardin’s Content Analyses and Meihy’s oral history. The 74 texts were analysed and categorized according to theirs subjects. At the same time, the reports of three journalists that worked on Correio da Mulher were combined: Bete Portugal, Janete Jobim e Wlacyra Lisboa, interviwed individually. From the analyzed texts, we noticed a strong thematic repetition with subjects like politics and women’s rights in the shape, mainly, of journalistic stories. The journal’s short life, of only two editions, comes from conflicts between the direction and the journalists team , but ir does not constitute a exception among the alternatives from that same era, marked, most of them, by its ephemerality.
