O comércio varejista do ramo ótico apresenta como característica a fragmentação do market share, bem como a ausência de empresas líderes de mercado em nível nacional e regional. Nesta mesma linha, observa-se a ausência de players internacionais, fatos que facilitam uma busca por crescimento. Para atingir um volume maior de vendas e uma base maior de clientes, as empresas atuantes no mercado optam pela abertura de novas filiais, buscando pontos-de-venda já consolidados. Por se tratar de um segmento no qual os proprietários, de forma geral, adotam uma gestão centralizada, familiar e pouco profissional, a expansão baseia-se em vontades, anseios e percepções pessoais, sem a utilização de ferramentas técnicas e estratégias pré-definidas. Este trabalho objetiva propor um plano de expansão para a empresa Óticas Livi, analisando seu negócio e posicionamento, assim como o mercado no qual atua. Inicialmente foi realizada uma revisão teórica, fundamentada especialmente em varejo e estratégia. Após, foram entrevistados proprietários de empresas varejistas de sucesso com porte similar, visando agregar a experiência prática e os modelos utilizados.
