Pecuária leiteira em Camargo/RS : entre limites e potencialidades da atividade

Abstract

A atividade leiteira e a diversificação da produção são duas atividades que garantem a manutenção de pequenas propriedades, bem como um incentivo para que os jovens permaneçam no campo e não migrem para a cidade. Diante disso, este trabalho teve como objetivo compreender os fatores limitantes e potencializantes para continuidade da propriedade rural relacionados à atividade leiteira, nas pequenas propriedades de agricultura familiar, no município de Camargo/RS. Através da abordagem sistêmica de Unidades de Produção Agrícola, com uso dos indicadores e diagnóstico agrossocioeconômico foram analisadas três UPAs do município, onde constatou-se a importância da atividade leiteira, pois a mesma integra maior parte nos lucros das propriedades. Como principal fator limitante para a atividade encontra-se a questão do preço pago pela produção, e como fator potencializador as possibilidades de aumento da produção em função da demanda nacional. Neste sentido, conclui-se que a atividade leiteira é representativa na economia das pequenas propriedades, o que reflete também na economia do município.

Milk activity and diversification of production are two activities that guarantee the maintenance of small properties, as well as an incentive for the young to remain in the field and not migrate to the city. The objective of this study was to understand the limiting and potentiating factors for the continuity of rural property related to the dairy activity in small family farms in Camargo / RS. Through the systemic approach of Agricultural Production Units, with the use of indicators and agro-socioeconomic diagnosis, three UPAs of the municipality were analyzed, where the importance of the milk activity was verified, since it integrates most of the profits of the properties. As the main limiting factor for the activity is the question of the price paid for the production, and as a potential factor the possibilities of increasing production in function of the national demand. In this sense, it is concluded that the milk activity is representative in the economy of the small properties, which also reflects in the economy of the municipality.
