Thus, the main goal of this work is to present a methodology that can evaluate if the chance is economically viable and point out the risks associated with using the services of the retailer marketer, the new type of certified agent. As this work involves many highly random variables, the method adopted seeks to take these effects into account, assigning a probability distribution to every variable involved in the merit variables. Most contracts in the energy market are established for periods longer than six months. For that reason the scenarios proposed in this work were made considering contracts from 6 months up to 2 years. The variables used are influenced by the Brazilian economic scenario and climatic and power generation effects. In order to analyze the methodology, scenarios were made to determine the impact that fluctuations could have on the viability of the change of markets. The goal of this study is to determine the economic viability and the risks involved on a telecommunications company changing from the conventional energy market to the free energy market. The company’s current power demand is not high enough to allow it to access the free energy market directly, that is, 500kw. Lastly, the variables that were responsible for larger portions of the risks, because of lack of information, or because it’s in their nature, were determined with the sensitivity analyses. The analysis made allows the determination of whether it is possible to change from one market to another and the variables that have the most relevant impact on the final result.en
