This work is a study about the proceedings that characterize a good teacher in the classroom. For that I questioned which paths the teacher must go through in the search for qualification in his profession and in the eyes of his students. I started from a personal report of my earliest and most important memories from my student years. I selected the teachers who most influenced me during my learning period and whose attitudes made them unique to me. Later I presented some theories about who a good teacher is and how he works through the eyes of authors in the educational field: Rubens Alves, Paulo Freire and José Contreras. By researching these educators I could profile the professional who’d have a positive influence on his students in a way they’d have the will to learn. Besides, the present work also united the theory and the practice of the teachers. It questioned them about their ideas, expectations, uncertainties and difficulties. Similarly, the students were listened in order to cover all the people involved in the learning process within the classroom. All this material showed an agreement of opinions that allows me to conclude that the biggest difficulty for the teachers to be considered good professionals by their students is the lack of dialogue and passion for the profession, the disbelief in their ability to teach and little knowledge of the subject to whom the learning process is directed to.en
