Recentemente, Desmet e Pohlmeyer (2013) propuseram o design positivo, cujo objetivo central é o de promover bem-estar duradouro e florescimento humano por meio de experiências prazerosas, virtuosas e de significado pessoal decorrentes do uso dos produtos. Os pensamentos que alicerçam o design positivo advêm principalmente da psicologia ocidental positiva, onde o bem-estar está é inerente à vivência de experiências positivas (caráter emocional e cognitivo) e o florescimento humano é considerado como a medida de um elevado nível de bem-estar na vida. O objetivo geral do presente capítulo é expandir a orientação filosófica dada ao design positivo para além dos pressupostos da psicologia ocidental acerca do bem-estar e florescimento humano, considerando também a perspectiva da psicologia oriental budista. Acredita-se que este trabalho possa ser útil aos designers que pretendem projetar com orientação explícita para o bem-estar, ajudando-os a compreender melhor o que é o design positivo e as variáveis que o compõem, permitindo-lhes refletir além dos horizontes filosóficos dos pensamentos ocidentais sobre bem-estar e florescimento humano aplicados no design positivo, que possuem viés hedônico, individualista e apresentam metas de realização externas. ...
