O Relatório Figueiredo e suas contradições : a questão indígena em tempos de ditadura

Abstract

Durante 1967, foi realizada uma Comissão de Inquérito Administrativo, a pedido do Ministro do Interior, para investigar crimes e irregularidades cometidos pelo Serviço de Proteção aos Índios: naquele momento, o principal órgão governamental responsável pela execução das políticas de assistência aos indígenas. Tal Comissão foi presidida pelo, então, Procurador da República, Jáder de Figueiredo Correia, e percorreu diversos Postos Indígenas e Inspetorias Regionais do país. A partir dessa investigação foi gerada uma documentação de cerca de 7 mil páginas que ficou conhecida como "Relatório Figueiredo" e na qual encontram-se diversas denúncias sobre "Crimes contra a pessoa e o patrimônio do índio" e uma vasta documentação de caráter administrativo. Esse conjunto documental permaneceu desaparecido até 2012, quando foi reencontrado nos arquivos do Museu do Índio, no contexto do levantamento de fontes e subsídios para os trabalhos da Comissão Nacional da Verdade. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo ser uma primeira aproximação com esta vasta e complexa fonte, realizando uma apresentação crítica da mesma, apontando questionamentos e leituras possíveis. During 1967, an Administrative Inquiry Commission was held, at the request of the Minister of the Interior, to investigate crimes and irregularities committed by the Protection Service for Indians: at that time, it was the main governmental body responsible for the implementation of indigenous assistance policies. This Commission was chaired by then, Attorney General, Jáder de Figueiredo Correia, and ran several Regional Offices and Indigenous Posts of the country. Based on this investigation, a documentation of around 7,000 pages was generated, known as the "Figueiredo Report", in which several denunciations of "Crimes against the person and the patrimony of the Indian" are found and a vast documentation of an administrative nature. This documentation remained missing until 2012, when it was rediscovered in the archives of the Museum of the Indian in the context of the survey of sources and subsidies for the work of the National Truth Commission. The present work aims to be a first approximation with this vast and complex source, making a critical presentation of it, pointing out possible questions and readings. At the end, it is also sought to make relations of the Report with the present time.
