Abstract in Portuguese (Brasil)

Abstract
The feline cholangitis is one of the most common liver diseases in felines, second only to hepatic lipidosis. The feline cholangitis complex is a syndrome characterized by inflammation within the portal triads and surrounding hepatocytes. There are two histologically recognized forms: the neutrophilic and the lymphocytic. The disease can occur concomitantly to intestinal inflammation and pancreatitis, related to anatomic particularities in the feline species. The diagnosis can be based on clini ...
The diagnosis can be based on clinical presentation, hematological and biochemical profiles, urinalysis and image exams; however, hepatic biopsy is the definitive diagnosis tool. Treatment differs according to clinical form and prognosis is variable, according to presentation and individual patient response. This study reviews presentation forms, diagnosis and available treatments for the inflammatory hepatic disease in domestic felines. ...
