Controlar e monitorar o mosquito da dengue (Aedes aegypti) é um objetivo global em saúde publica, já que ele é transmissor de muitas doenças. Controlar e monitorar o mosquito da dengue (Aedes aegypti) é um objetivo global em saúde publica, já que ele é transmissor de muitas doenças. Em Porto Alegre, há uma rede de armadilhas espalhadas pela cidade que são vistoriadas semanalmente, resultando num monitoramento preciso da ocupação de sítios pelo mosquito. Graças a este sistema, se pode notar a extrema sazonalidade do mosquito em Porto Alegre: muitos no verão e quase nada no inverno. Neste trabalho, foi elaborado um modelo que explica esta sazonalidade através de uma função trigonométrica, onde a data desde o começo do ano é o argumento e o resultado final tem um comportamento ondulatório. O modelo aparentou explicar bem o comportamento da população de mosquito. A maior infestação de mosquito foi prevista para os meses de Janeiro, Fevereiro e Março, com um pico de 0,980 em 18 de Fevereiro e os menores para os meses de Julho, Agosto e Setembro, com um mínimo de 0,073 em 19 de Agosto. O modelo considerou a possibilidade de as armadilhas falharam em capturar o mosquito, e estimou probabilidade de detecção de mosquitos em áreas realmente 25 ocupadas como 0,373. ...
