Noção de língua na tradução e na tradução inversa : uma perspectiva enunciativa

Abstract

Este trabalho reflete sobre a versão – considerando-a em contraste com a tradução stricto sensu –, em especial quanto às operações utilizadas pelo tradutor. A reflexão usa as noções de semiótico e semântico, elaboradas por Émile Benveniste, como categorias teóricas de análise. Analisam-se dados oriundos de aulas de versão do inglês da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul. As análises permitem entender que, de modo geral, enquanto os que fazem versões têm maior facilidade para interpretar o sentido da língua fonte em uso, muitas vezes eles enfrentam dificuldades para determinar as unidades semióticas adequadas para o texto alvo. Já os que fazem tradução desconhecem unidades semióticas do texto fonte, mas não enfrentam maiores dificuldades para a produção do texto alvo.

This paper aims to ponder about inverse translation –in contrast with direct translation –, in particular with regard to the operations used by translators. The reflection takes the notions of semiotics and semantics, developed by Émile Benveniste, as categories of analysis. Data during inverse translation classes at Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul are analyzed. These analyzes allow us to understand that in general while those who make inverse translations can more easily interpret the meaning of the source language, they often face difficulties in determining the appropriate semiotic units for the target text. Those who make direct translations may not know semiotic units of the source text, but do not face greater difficulties in producing the target text.
