Cannabis medicinal e ciência : um estudo de representações a partir da produção científica

Abstract

A Cannabis é utilizada para fins terapêuticos desde a antiguidade. Muito embora tenha sido criminalizada junto a outras drogas ilícitas durante o século XX, a Cannabis medicinal está sendo redescoberta através da identificação da estrutura química dos compostos derivados e os mecanismos de ação no sistema nervoso central. O objetivo proposto da pesquisa é, a partir da produção científica sobre uso de Cannabis medicinal, identificar e analisar suas principais representações na comunidade científica. Quanto ao método, trata-se de um estudo qualitativo, fundamentado na Teoria das Representações Sociais. Os dados foram obtidos por meio da aplicação de uma revisão integrativa da literatura nas principais bases de dados do Portal CAPES no período de abril de 2017. Os resultados encontrados dizem respeito sobretudo ao uso terapêutico da Cannabis, seus efeitos positivos e efeitos adversos, os atores envolvidos nos estudos e suas perspectivas, as diversas políticas e legislações sobre o uso, e sobretudo as controvérsias e incertezas que perpassam o tema. Conclui-se que o tema ainda é controverso, e as representações se dão em torno do núcleo central que é o uso terapêutico. O conhecimento relacionado ao tema está em expansão e o futuro parece promissor.

Cannabis has been used for therapeutic purposes since antiquity. Although it has been criminalized alongside other illicit drugs during the twentieth century, medical Cannabis is being rediscovered by the identification of the chemical structure of the derived compounds and the mechanisms of action in the central nervous system. The proposed goal of the research is through the scientific production on the use of medicinal Cannabis, identify and analyze its main representations in the scientific community. As for the method: a qualitative study, based on the Social Representations Theory. The data were obtained through the application of an integrative review of the literature in the main databases of the Portal CAPES in the period of April 2017. The results found mainly concern to the therapeutic use of Cannabis, its positive effects and adverse effects, the actors involved in the studies and their perspectives, the manifold policies and legislation, and especially the controversies and uncertainties that pervade the theme. It concludes that the subject is still controversial, and the representations are around the central nucleus that is the therapeutic use. Knowledge related to the topic is expanding and the future looks promising.
