Abstract in Portuguese (Brasil)

Accounting Information Systems are great Accountancy allies in the process of generating useful information, reason for this paper to aim at presenting the approach made by journals ranked as A* in the Australian Council of Professors and Heads of Information Systems ranking about Accounting Information Systems. For this, a descriptive, documental and qualitative research was done through a systematic review of literature. A general selection was made in each one of the 13 journals ranked as A* using the expression “accounting information system (s)”, resulting in 215 documents. Having this sample, the same expression was searched in document’s titles, and/or abstracts, and/or among the keywords, resulting in 10 papers, which were analyzed in this study. It was noticed that Accounting Information Systems have evolved and adapted to society’s reality along the years. In older papers, a great focus on the basic construction of Accounting Information Systems was found, from the hardware up to the choice of selection patterns for modeling it in a systematic, rational way and consistent with the accounting model itself. Afterwards, the focus changed to analyzing Accounting Information Systems, observing factors that would influence its performance, organizational learning and even cultural differences present in its construction. In more recent years, studies have showed concern on the data reliability presented by Accounting Information Systems, focusing on developing ways of assuring data reliability, in order to meet auditing needs. ...
