A maior conscientização da população em relação aos riscos da exposição da pele ao sol impulsionou o mercado de protetores solares no Brasil. Emulsões constituem o melhor veículo para filtros solares, entretanto são sistemas naturalmente instáveis. Dessa forma, surge a necessidade do desenvolvimento de um produto capaz de garantir um período viável de estabilidade física e química. Logo, o objetivo do presente trabalho é avaliar a formação de emulsões, utilizando ultrassom e Ultra-Turrax®, e comparar as características físico-químicas dos materiais obtidos com as de um protetor solar comercial de mesma formulação, produzido com uso de impelidor. As amostras foram submetidas a um teste de estabilidade preliminar e tiveram suas propriedades físico-químicas, como pH, densidade e viscosidade medidas antes e após o teste de estabilidade. Os resultados obtidos neste trabalho mostram que a viscosidade das emulsões preparadas com ultrassom e com Ultra-Turrax® são inferiores à viscosidade do protetor solar comercial. As densidades dos protetores solares desenvolvidos neste estudo apresentaram uma faixa similar, próxima de 1 g cm-3, enquanto a densidade do fotoprotetor comercial é 0,86 g cm-3. As imagens feitas por microscopia possibilitaram uma noção do tamanho de partícula de cada amostra As amostras obtidas com ultrassom e Ultra-Turrax® apresentaram um tamanho de gota inferior a 10 μm, enquanto o fotoprotetor comercial apresentou tamanho de gota inferior a 70 μm. Nos testes de estabilidade preliminar, os protetores solares desenvolvidos obtiveram resultados similares, não apresentando desestabilização, enquanto a amostra comercial sofreu desestabilização parcial. Tanto pH quanto densidade de todas as amostras não sofreram variação considerável após os testes de estabilidade preliminar. As viscosidades das amostras produzidas neste estudo apresentaram uma variação média de viscosidade de aproximadamente 0,2 % para o Ultra-Turrax ® e 6 % para o ultrassom, enquanto a amostra comercial apresentou um aumento de viscosidade de aproximadamente 20 %. Os estudos de estabilidade indicam que as amostras produzidas neste trabalho apresentam estabilidade aceitável com manutenção de seus aspectos físicos e comportamento reológico. ...
