Abstract in Portuguese (Brasil)

Objective: To evaluate direct Class V composite resin restorations performed at the school of dentistry, Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. Methods: The study included adult patients of both sexes who received restorative treatment class V composite resin restorations in anterior teeth or on the gengival third of any tooth, with composite resin types: microfills, microhybrids, nanoparticulate and nanohybrids; and restorations that had a minimum of 6 months in service, with no maximum limit of follow-up. Those patients who had severe parafunctional habits, poor oral hygiene or with special needs were not included in the study. The evaluation criteria used in this study was the modified FDI. Data analysis was performed using the Kaplan-Meier estimates and Cox regression. Results: 210 cervical restorations were evaluated with a time interval from 6 months up to 13 years (mean 2,76 years). 47 (22.38%) restorations were considered clinically inadequate by the method, being the major cause of failure the loss of restoration and the annual failure rate (AFR) was 8.78%. Conclusion: It was concluded that the cervical composite restoration demonstrated a satisfactory clinical performance of 77.62% survival rate in 2.76 years and the type composite significantly influenced the clinical performance. ...
