Diante da necessidade de produtos cada vez mais competitivos e produção nos pilares da sustentabilidade, é de grande interesse das industrias otimizarem seus processos para reduzirem consumo dos recursos e operarem com custos mais baixos. As indústrias de processamento são responsáveis por um terço do consumo total de energia no Brasil, sendo que, dentro destas, os processos de separação são responsáveis por 43% do consumo. As colunas de destilação são predominantemente utilizadas em separação de misturas, garantindo elevadas taxas de transferência de massa, alta eficiência em relação a outros processos de separação, além de ser possível obter um elevado grau de pureza do produto desejado. É de grande importância a otimização da operação destes equipamentos, visto que requerem grandes quantidades de energia. Neste trabalho realizou-se o estudo de uma stripper de eteno inserida no processo de produção de polipropileno. Este equipamento é responsável pela separação da matéria-prima não reagida, retornando esta de volta ao processo. Para realização do estudo, utilizou-se o simulador IISE, tanto para o estudo do modelo termodinâmico adequado quanto para a realização das simulações da coluna. Após o estudo para verificar o modelo termodinâmico a ser utilizado, optou-se por simular a coluna usando a equação de estado Peng Robinson com a regra de mistura van der Waals modificada. Primeiramente validou-se a simulação com dado de projeto da planta e, após escolher um período de operação estável em produção de copolímero heterofásico, validou-se a simulação com dados reais. A stripper de eteno foi simulada e verificou-se o impacto da alteração da temperatura de alimentação e razão de refluxo na especificação das correntes. Observou-se que existe a possibilidade de operar a coluna com uma temperatura de alimentação maior e uma razão de refluxo menor, sem perda da especificação da corrente de fundo em relação a quantidade de eteno, perdendo a mínima quantidade de propeno pela corrente de topo que, em parte, é vendida como offgas (gás de refinaria). A partir da otimização da operação da coluna no simulador IISE, verificou-se a condição ótima de temperatura de alimentação e razão de refluxo, sendo possível uma economia de vapor de 75 Kg/h, o que representa 22% do consumo atual. ...
