Gestualidade e cognição na afasia de expressão

Abstract

Objetivo: Investigar os diversos tipos de gestos produzidos por afásicos e examinar se a produção dos mesmos está relacionada com o perfil linguístico e os recursos atencionais dos participantes. Este estudo fundamenta-se na perspectiva neuropsicológica e psicolinguística para investigar a relação entre gestualidade, linguagem e atenção nas afasias expressivas. Método: Participaram deste estudo 10 participantes afásicos com quadros predominantemente expressivos. Foram coletados dados sobre o perfil atencional dos participantes e referentes à sua expressão oral a partir de instrumentos padronizados. Os dados gestuais foram coletados a partir do discurso autobiográfico conversacional gravado em vídeo onde o participante foi orientado a falar sobre um tema autobiográfico relacionado a um fato marcante da sua vida. Resultados: Observou-se correlação positiva entre os escores de atenção com gestos espaciais (,794**) e gesticulações (,663*). Houve correlação entre habilidades expressivas e os gestos icônico (,734*) e metafórico (,786*). Conclusão: De acordo com os resultados obtidos no presente estudo e com as discussões encontradas na literatura, há evidências que possibilitam inferir a relação presente entre a produção gestual e elaboração discursiva a partir dos processos mentais. Estimular a produção do gesto em indivíduos afásicos é um recurso para se chegar ao seu mental e abstrato. Além de demandar atenção, os gestos ainda formam e sustentam a mensagem a ser verbalizada, possibilitando uma comunicação mais satisfatória.

Objective: To investigate the various types of gestures produced by aphasic and examine whether the production thereof is related to linguistic profile and the attentional resources of the participants. This study is based on the neuropsychological and psycholinguistic perspective to investigate the relationship between gestures, language, and attention on expressive aphasia. Method: The study included 10 participants with expressive aphasia predominantly. Data were collected from the attentional profile of the participants and related to their oral expression from standardized instruments. The gestural data were collected from the autobiographical conversational speech recorded on video where the participant was asked to speak on an autobiographical theme related to an important fact of his life. Results: There was a positive correlation between the attention scores with spatial gestures (,794 **) and gestures (,663 *) . There was significant correlation between expressive skills and iconic (,734 *) and metaphorical (,786 *) gestures. Conclusion: According to the results obtained in this study and the discussions found in the literature, there is evidence that make it possible to infer this relationship between sign production and discursive elaboration from the mental processes. Stimulating the production of gesture in aphasic individuals is a resource to get to his mental and abstract. Besides demanding attention, gestures still form and hold the message to be verbalized, enabling more effective communication.
