Abstract in Portuguese (Brasil)

Abstract
The light emitted by the stars is scattered by the particles in the interstellar medium. This causes the light extinction and the spectral reddening. The extinction must be taken into account in the solution of a number of problems, such as the study of the distribution and spectroscopic analysis astronomical objects. In this work, we present a three-dimensional model for the interstellar medium in the solar neighborhood. This model is based on a barometric law for the distribution of matter in ...
This model is based on a barometric law for the distribution of matter in the interstellar medium and was calculated from the analysis of the spectral reddening of around 14,000 DAs white dwarf stars within a radius of 1 kpc of the Sun, observed by the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS). The results are consistent with other similar studies. ...
