This research study aimed to analyze the perception of English unreleased voiceless stops in CVC syllables by native speakers of American English. This verification was based on the hypotheses of a previous study, conducted with Brazilian learners of English from the city of Porto Alegre, in Southern Brazil. The results showed that most of the hypotheses that accounted for the results regarding the perception tests applied to the Brazilian learners of English were corroborated in this study, indicating that acoustic relations between the nuclear vowel and the final consonant are essential to the perceptual accuracy of stops in coda position. ...
