A liga de Al-Cu-Mg AA 2024 é utilizada na indústria aeronáutica há algumas décadas, por apresentar propriedades mecânicas satisfatórias aliadas à baixa densidade, crucial a esta aplicação. Contudo, tem-se investido em novas ligas, com melhorias tanto em propriedades como resistência ao desgaste e à fadiga, quanto em densidade. A liga de Al-Cu-Li AA 2198 é um desses materiais promissores. A principal causa para a satisfatória resistência mecânica das ligas mencionadas é a precipitação de fases como T1(Al2CuLi), δ′(Al3Li), S (Al2CuMg) e θ′(Al2Cu). Contudo, tais precipitados são frequentemente causadores de corrosão localizada – intercristalina e por pites – devido à diferença de potencial entre os precipitados e a matriz. O presente trabalho visa analisar a susceptibilidade das ligas mencionadas às diferentes formas de corrosão localizada em eletrólito com cloreto de sódio. Para tanto, as ligas foram primeiramente caracterizadas por microscopia ótica e microscopia eletrônica de varredura (MEV). Em seguida, foram realizados ensaios de OCP (Open Circuit Potential - Potencial em Circuito Aberto) e voltametrias cíclicas a 5 diferentes taxas de varredura. Também foi investigada a dependência da corrosão intercristalina em relação à corrosão por pites, realizando-se ensaios mais específicos na AA2024-T3. Para avaliar a influência do fator deformação, principalmente no ataque intercristalino da AA2024-T3, OCP com deformação simultânea e voltametria cíclica com deformação foram realizados, para tanto utilizando um novo método de aplicação e manutenção de tensão em corpos-de-prova confeccionados manualmente. Além da condição de deformação, foram testadas outras condições que poderiam influenciar o ataque intercristalino, conduzindo-se ensaios em eletrólito ácido e com agitação. A intensidade do ataque corrosivo foi observada por microscopia ótica após todos os ensaios realizados. Os potenciais de corrosão e pite da liga AA2024-T3 encontrados foram, respectivamente, -335 mV/SHE e -285,2 mV/SHE e, da AA2198-T8 foram -460 mV/SHE e -319,2 mV/SHE. A liga 2024-T3 revelou um fenômeno mais dependente do tempo que do potencial, que foi interpretado como a corrosão intercristalina e teve potencial de repassivação entre -570 mV/SHE e -720 mV/SHE. Foi encontrada uma dependência da corrosão intercristalina em relação à corrosão por pites nesta liga. O efeito da deformação simultânea no OCP desta liga foi uma queda do potencial de corrosão de 200 a 275 mV/SHE a cada vez que se deformou 0,33% no sentido da aplicação de tensão. As voltametrias cíclicas realizadas com os corpos-de-prova deformados 3,5% e 3,8% mostraram maior tendência à corrosão por pites e intercristalina, porém nenhuma mudança considerável foi observada nas micrografias dos corpos-de-prova após os ensaios. A liga AA2024-T3 mostrou maior intensidade de corrosão intercristalina em relação à AA2198-T8, evidenciada pelas voltametrias cíclicas. Por outro lado, a AA2198-T8 mostrou corrosão por pites mais severa nas voltametrias cíclicas mais lentas. De modo geral, pode-se concluir que a AA2198-T8 é a mais resistente aos dois principais tipos de corrosão localizada. Em eletrólito ácido se evidenciou intensificação do ataque intercristalino para a liga 2024-T3. Para a AA2198-T8 houve uma redução da corrosão por pites em meio ácido, comportamento que merece estudos mais aprofundados. Ambas as ligas apresentaram menor corrosão por pites e intercristalina em condição de agitação. Os resultados em meio ácido e com agitação para a AA2024-T3 validaram a teoria proposta de que a solução ácida que emerge dos pites e fica sobre a superfície causa maior ataque intercristalino. A influência da deformação na corrosão localizada da AA2024-T3 necessita de análises das seções transversais para observar se houve maior profundidade de ataque nesta condição. ...
