Abstract in Portuguese

Abstract
This work aims at the quantification of gold and other elements present in jewelry coated with gold. This was achieved with the help of ion beam techniques like PIXE (Particle-Induced X-ray Emission) and RBS (Rutherford Backscattering Spectrometry). The analyses were performed in different types ofjewelry: pendant, earring and bracelet. In total, nine different jewelry was analyzed, from which fourteen the number of samples were crafted. With the RBS technique was determined the thickness of the gold film and how the elements are distributed within the sample.PIXE was used to determine the elements present in the samples and their concentration. Despite the difference in the price of the jewelry found in the market, all of them have similar composition. However, there was a small variation in the amount of gold present in the samples. ...
