Com o avanço da indústria, fica cada vez maior a exigência de evitar desperdícios e obter o maior lucro possível. Para isso, otimiza-se o processo para que esse seja rentável. Neste trabalho, foi estudada uma alternativa para otimizar a torre absorvedora secundária da unidade de craqueamento catalítico fluidizado (UFCC) de uma Refinaria e simular esta torre no simulador iisE para verificação de resultados. Para isso estudou-se o processo de absorção. Este é um processo de separação de um ou mais componentes de uma corrente gasosa, gás combustível (GC), através do contato em contracorrente com um solvente líquido, óleo leve de reciclo (LCO). O objetivo é diminuir a perda de compostos de três ou mais carbonos para o gás combustível e assim agregá-los ao gás liquefeito de petróleo, produto de maior valor agregado. O valor, até então, sendo superior a 5% molar de C3+ (compostos de 3 ou mais carbonos) no GC com uma vazão de 250 m³/d de LCO. Para ser otimizado, busca-se, no máximo, de 3% de C3+ no GC medido da saída do gás da unidade. Para isso, aumenta-se a vazão de entrada de LCO, aumentando assim a relação entre líquido de absorção e vapor (L/V), e absorvendo mais C3+. Tem-se o cuidado para não ocorrer arraste de óleo pelo gás combustível e, com isso, contaminar o GLP com óleo. Com os dados de operação da torre absorvedora, foi possível simular e relacionar o aumento de carga líquida com a absorção do C3+ do gás combustível através do simulador iiSE. E assim pode-se comparar os resultados simulados com os valores de operação da planta. A realização dos testes na torre absorvedora apresentaram bons resultados, inferiores a 3% molar de C3+ na saída de gás da unidade, alcançando o objetivo. Enquanto os resultados da simulação não foram tão bons quanto os da planta, houve um aumento na absorção com o aumento da vazão de solvente, mas não na mesma proporção que a planta. ...
