Neste trabalho é estudada a síntese de estruturas de controle auto-otimizável (SOC) aplicadas a uma unidade de destilação atmosférica de petróleo. Entende-se por controle auto-otimizável a estratégia de controle que visa manter certas variáveis controladas no seu setpoint ótimo ao longo de toda a faixa de distúrbios. Sua implementação é simples e a resposta é na ordem de segundos, apresentando custo de instalação e manutenção muito inferiores a um otimizador em tempo real (RTO) usual. Por não ser um RTO, existe uma perda em relação ao ótimo local quando ocorrem distúrbios; a escolha de quais variáveis serão controladas visa diminuir essa perda até um valor aceitável. Por isso, o foco das pesquisas encontradas na literatura relacionadas ao SOC é justamente a seleção das variáveis controladas. Para estudar a síntese de estruturas de SOC, foi utilizado um simulador comercial, o Aspen Plus. Nele, foi modelado uma planta de destilação atmosférica de petróleo, em que uma mistura de dois petróleos são alimentados no sistema, e obtêm-se quatro produtos principais: diesel, nafta, querosene e gasóleo atmosférico, além de resíduo atmosférico. Foi desenvolvida uma metodologia heurística, baseada nos ganhos das variáveis, para selecionar variáveis controladas e suas variáveis manipuladas associadas. Também foi utilizada a linearização do sistema para fazer uma análise de varredura de diversas combinações de variáveis controladas, além da aplicação de uma metodologia bastante reconhecida na literatura, conhecida por espaço nulo. O método baseado na análise de ganhos obteve resultados excelentes, com perda de apenas 2,51% em relação ao ótimo real no modelo não-linear. As variáveis calculadas no modelo linear através das duas metodologias não puderam ser implementadas no modelo não-linear, devido à problemas de operabilidade das colunas para as variáveis calculadas pelo método de varredura, e devido à dificuldade de implementação da variável obtida pelo método do espaço nulo. ...
