Em 2012 a taxa básica de juros do Brasil chegou a um nível que, para reduzi-la, o governo precisaria diminuir a remuneração da poupança. Este artigo buscou analisar o que o governo poderia esperar do comportamento do investidor no direcionamento dos seus investimentos em função das alterações na remuneração da poupança, sob a perspectiva da teoria dos jogos. O resultado da formulação de um jogo sequencial de informação incompleta em que os jogadores eram o governo e os investidores, mostrou que a decisão do governo deveria ser de alterar a remuneração da poupança, pois a maioria dos investidores continuaria a investir no produto. Comparada aos fatos ocorridos, a decisão apresentada na teoria se mostra acertada, pois, apesar da mudança na remuneração, o investimento continuou atrativo e muito procurado pelos brasileiros. ...

In 2012, the interest rate in Brazil reached a level that, in order to reduce it, the government would need to lower the return on savings accounts. This paper aims to analyze the expectation of the government as to investor behavior regarding changes in those accounts, from the perspective of game theory. The result of a dynamic game of incomplete information, where players are government and investors, showed that the government's decision should be to decrease the rate of return on savings accounts because most investors would not change to another investment. Ex post data analysis shows that game theory led to the correct decision: despite the lowerreturn, on savings accounts, the investment remained attractive to Brazilians investors. ...
