It is now known that the periodization of training and load regulation for athletes is crucial to achieving the goals set. The objective of this study is to identify and analyze the periodization methods used by athletes of powerlifting of Rio Grande do Sul. A questionnaire of 9 questions was answered by 10 coaches and state level athletes, considering the following aspects of their training: periodization model, form of regulation of volume and intensity, exercise selection, use of recuperative microcycle, target performance projection, workout plan registry and theoretical basis of periodization. The frequency response was analyzed using the Binomial test based on the odds ratio (alpha <0.05). The results revealed that the majority of athletes (80%) claim periodize and adjust the volume and intensity of training. Of the 10 subjects, 6 affirm using recuperative microcycle. The majority of the athletes (90%) reported base the periodization in personal experience, with only one subject using literature as a basis for the training. Following this trend, only 3 athletes declared register the workout plan. The findings of this study show that athletes declare periodize training using the classic linear model, despite using personal experience as a basis for periodization. ...
