Saúde sexual e reprodutiva e planejamento familiar no contexto de imigrantes brasileiras e africanas que vivem em Portugal

Abstract

A saúde sexual e reprodutiva representa uma das principais preocupações da Saúde Pública, pois afeta a saúde e o bem-estar dos indivíduos e compromete o nível social e econômico das sociedades. Muitos problemas relacionados a este tema são acentuados em grupos socialmente desfavorecidos, como os imigrantes. Esta investigação, portanto, aprofunda o conhecimento de alguns aspectos que envolvem a saúde sexual e reprodutiva de imigrantes brasileiras e africanas que vivem em Portugal, particularmente quanto ao planejamento familiar. Os resultados evidenciam lacunas no que se refere ao conhecimento das participantes sobre a temática, apontando para a necessidade de investimento em programas de prevenção, informação e desenvolvimento de competências que possam contribuir com alternativas para a promoção da saúde.

Sexual and reproductive health represents one of the main concerns of Public Health, since it affects the health and wellbeing of individuals and it compromises the social and economic level of societies. Many problems related to this theme are accentuated in socially disadvantaged groups, such as immigrants. This investigation, therefore, deepens knowledge in some aspects that involve the sexual and reproductive health of Brazilian and African immigrants who live in Portugal, especially in regards to family planning. The results witnessed deficiencies concerning participants’ knowledge on the theme, identifying the need for investment in prevention programs, information and capacity building that may contribute with alternatives for health promotion.
