A perda de carga é parâmetro fundamental para dimensionamento de qualquer obra hidráulica, desde simples instalações hidrossanitárias prediais até grandes estações de recalque. Com o aumento da tarifa de energia elétrica é, cada vez mais, necessária a determinação precisa dessa grandeza, já que influi diretamente na potência requerida por bombas hidráulicas. São diversos os métodos e programas de computador que permitem a avaliação da perda de carga assim como estudos realizados para o estabelecimento de coeficientes requeridos para o seu cálculo. Neste trabalho, é analisada a perda de carga ocorrida na rede de distribuição do Laboratório de Eficiência Hidráulica e Energética em Saneamento (Lenhs) da UFRGS, para diferentes cenários de abastecimento e vazões. Os dados obtidos no modelo experimental foram confrontados com os dados calculados pelo modelo numérico de simulação de sistemas de distribuição de água EPANET. A escolha do software foi feita tendo em vista seu grande prestígio e sua comprovada aplicabilidade para redes de distribuição urbanas, sendo ele utilizado por diversas companhias de saneamento de todo o mundo. A fundamentação teórica do trabalho se deu a partir do estudo de bibliografia especializada, abrangendo desde as propriedades do fluido que influenciam na perda de carga até metodologias para soluções de redes complexas. Para a comparação de resultados entre os dois modelos, numérico e experimental, foram empregadas duas análises distintas. Na rede ramificada foram comparadas diretamente as perdas de carga, já no abastecimento em malha foi avaliada a diferença entre a vazão passante em cada trecho, pois a distribuição da vazão é realizada pelo software de maneira que haja equilíbrio energético na rede. Por fim, foi feita uma discussão sobre a aplicabilidade do modelo numérico para avaliação da perda de carga na rede de distribuição do Lenhs, na qual é destacada a influência do elevado número singularidades a dificuldade que eles acarretam na correta determinação dessa importante grandeza. ...
