Daiane dos Santos, a gauchinha de ouro : articulações entre jornalismo esportivo e identidade gaúcha

Abstract

A ginasta gaúcha Daiane dos Santos fez história ao ser a primeira brasileira a se tornar campeã mundial de Ginástica Artística, no solo. Com isso, foi alçada ao posto de ídolo do esporte nacional, tornando-se um exemplo a ser seguido. Sabendo que o jornalismo esportivo cumpre uma função importante ao divulgar representações da atleta que servem como base na construção da imagem que o público tem dela, e partindo da idéia que o jornalista mobiliza discursos da sociedade na qual está inserido para produzir seus textos, a questão central deste trabalho é saber que discursos são produzidos na representação da ginasta Daiane dos Santos construída pelo jornalismo esportivo gaúcho. Através da análise das seções de esporte dos jornais Correio do Povo e Zero Hora, nosso objetivo é verificar como o jornalismo esportivo gaúcho articula discursos sobre a identidade regional na representação da atleta. Utilizando conceitos e procedimentos da Análise do Discurso, pretende-se investigar: a) quais elementos são utilizados para construir a representação da ginasta pelos jornais; b) se houve alteração da representação da atleta construída pelos jornais durante o período analisado; c) como a questão das identidades subalternas (étnica, de classe e de gênero) é inserida nos textos; e d) como a distinção nacional/regional é trabalhada nos textos. A análise revela que na representação da ginasta Daiane dos Santos foram construídos discursos, através de marcas como valentia, bravura, heroísmo e laboriosidade, que instauram sentidos de Gaúcho Idealizado, Superioridade Gaúcha e Senso de Justiça. Esses discursos, apesar de fazerem circular sentidos sobre a identidade gaúcha, não reproduziram a totalidade das representações do gauchismo, com todos os estereótipos, preconceitos e silenciamentos existentes nestas.

The gaucho gymnast Daiane dos Santos made history being the first Brazilian woman to win a world title of Artistic Gymnastic, on Floor at the 2003 World Championships in Anaheim (USA). Because of this, she reaches the position of idol in the national sport, an example to be followed. Knowing that sportive journalism has an important function to notice representations of the athlete that serve as a base in the construction of image that the public has of her, and having the idea that the journalist mobilizes discourses of the society in which he is inserted to produce his texts, the central question of this work is to know which discourses are produced in representation of the gymnast Daiane dos Santos built by gaucho sportive journalism. Through the analysis of the sportive sections in Correio do Povo e Zero Hora newspapers, our objective is examine how the gaucho sportive journalism articulates discourses about the regional identity in the representation of the athlete. Using the concepts and procedures from the field of Discourse Analysis, is intended to investigate: a) which elements are used to construct the representation of the gymnast by the newspapers; b) If there was a changing of the representation of the athlete built by the newspapers during the period analyzed; c) how the question of the subalterns identities (ethnic, of group, of order) is inserted in the texts; and d) how the distinction national/regional is made in the texts. The analysis reveals that in the representation of the gymnast Daiane dos Santos were built discourses, through marks as valiantness, bravery, heroism and laboriousness, that establish senses of Idealized Gaucho, Gaucho Superiority and Sense of Justice. These discourses, although they make senses about the gaucho identity, they do not reproduce all the representations of “gauchism”, with all the stereotypes, prejudice and silence that exist on it.
