Subject
Abstract in Portuguese (Brasil)

Abstract
In this work, the influence of a coupling agent (AA) nature influence and how it affects polypropylene/fiberglass (PP/FV) composite mechanical properties were evaluated. PP/FV composites were processed in a twin screw extruder and injected to produce specimens for characterization of their mechanical (Izod impact strength, flexural strength and tensile strength), thermal (Tm, Tc and Tg) and dynamics properties (E' and E'') and morphology. FV acted as a nucleating agent, shifting crystallization ...

PP/FV composites were processed in a twin screw extruder and injected to produce specimens for characterization of their mechanical (Izod impact strength, flexural strength and tensile strength), thermal (Tm, Tc and Tg) and dynamics properties (E' and E'') and morphology. FV acted as a nucleating agent, shifting crystallization peak to higher temperature synergistically with the AA. Regardless the content used, the mechanical properties improved with AA and FV. The best composite PP/FV was the one with 2% of PP-g-AM. PP/FV/EPDM-g-AM composites, even at very low levels of AA elastomeric, decreased composite mechanical properties, whereas improved the tenacity, which one was still lower in comparison to the PP/FV composite with PP-g-AM. ...
