A atuação dos bibliotecários diante da censura em bibliotecas escolares : uma análise a partir da literatura

Abstract

Este trabalho tem como objetivo analisar, a partir da literatura científica, como os bibliotecários atuam frente à censura em bibliotecas diversas e escolares. A pesquisa, de abordagem qualitativa e caráter exploratório, busca conhecer como os bibliotecários se posicionam frente à essas situações de censura nas bibliotecas escolares e quais são os impactos da censura dentro destes espaços a partir da análise literária das obras selecionadas. A censura, ainda presente em ambientes escolares, interfere diretamente na promoção do acesso à informação e à leitura. O estudo evidencia que, apesar de existirem bibliotecários que se posicionam ativamente contra práticas censórias, ainda há fragilidades na postura e no preparo, muitas vezes sem o apoio da instituição para enfrentar essas situações. As categorias temáticas identificadas envolveram os impactos da censura no acesso à informação, as condutas profissionais frente à censura e as ações práticas em bibliotecas escolares. Percebe-se que é fundamental fortalecer a formação crítica e ética dos bibliotecários, além de promover debates sobre a censura no contexto escolar, em busca da garantia do pleno exercício das funções educativas, sociais e informativas das bibliotecas escolares.

This study aims to examine, through the lens of scientific literature, the reaction of librarians to censorship in various library settings, with a focus on school libraries. Using a qualitative and exploratory approach, the study investigates the actions taken by librarians when confronting censorship and analyzes their stances and actions in such situations. Educational environments still enacting censorship directly impacts the promotion of access to information and reading. The findings reveal that while some librarians actively oppose censorship practices, there are still notable weaknesses in the process of preparing a professional and that professional being supported by the institution. The themed categories include the impact of censorship on information access, professional conduct in the face of censorship, and practical actions in school libraries. The study highlights the need to strengthen the critical and ethical training of librarians and to fuel dialogue on censorship in schools to ensure the full educational, social, and informational roles of school libraries.
